People tend to have a craving for power, which oftentimes stems from violence. Violence causes anger in people which is hard to control and easy to grow wild. Violence takes us all the way back to the Roman Empire. In the play, The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare shows how easy it is for violence to become out of control. After Caesar's funeral, a mob of people murders Cinna the poet because they mistook him for Cinna the Conpiracer. “Tear him, Tear him! Come, brands, ho, firebrands!” (3. iii.37-38). This scene shows how a small of violence always leads to more violence even when unintentional. In both cases, people were killed, hurt, and affected. Violence growing can also be seen through abusive relationships. If it is a romantic relationship or a family one there are a lot of cases where abuse can lead to bigger violence. Once someone starts abusing another it is hard to get out of it. People have a tendency to want power and will do anything to get it. Violence is one way of gaining power and the more violence individuals show the more power they will gain. In the article, Why It Is Important to Speak Up on Violence it states, “Most times, these cases are difficult to solve due to the perpetrator cleaning the area where the crime was committed, where they will likely not be linked to the crime.” These days it is so easy to cover up the violence that happens.
