The Violence of Romeo and Juliet
There is a strong amount of violence in Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet by: William Shakespeare was about the love and hate between the Capulet's and the Montague's. There is also a lot of violence and death within it. First, The cause of the violence in Romeo and Juliet is caused by the family's hatred toward each other because When the Capulet's and the Montague's start fighting in the street at the beginning is started by Samson biting his thumb at the Montague's. 1.1 57-66 Samson - "I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace to them if they bear it [He bites his thumb]" Abraham - "Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?" While Samson bites his thumb at Abraham, the problem escalates. Samson and Abraham argue and Benvolio walks in and draws his sword. Then Tybalt walks in and draws his sword and starts to fight Benvolio. Which starts a fight between the two families. 3.1 1556-1560 Romeo - "Gentlemen, for shame forbear this outrage! Tybalt! Mercutio! The Prince expressly hath Forbid this bandying in Verona streets. Hold, Tybalt! Good Mercutio! [Romeo attempts to beat down their rapiers. Tybalt stabs Mercutio]" Romeo refuses to fight because he is now part of the Capulet family. Since Tybalt is Juliet's cousin that makes it Romeo's cousin. The reason there is more fighting is because Tybalt hates Romeo. Which causes Mercutio and Tybalt start fighting because Romeo refuses to
