The theme off the story is successes of doing right and tragedy of doing wrong. The theme is oblivious after reading through the book. Wes Moore wrote in the introduction “our destinies can be determined by a single stumble down the wrong path, or a tentative step down the right one.” I believe this is what he is trying to teach us about humanity through his work. The book show both sides of humanity the dark side and when its at it best.

Dodge perseveres through the mental pain of The Cat killing his father and the physical pain of The Cat 's scratches. Hatter shows perseverance when he helps Alyss escape the palace safely and risks his life trying to find her. The story is switched around and now Alyss was born in the beautiful queendom of Wonderland and is forced to live in the busy country of England. Alyss is brought back to Wonderland, determined, ready to take back her throne. Beddor uses varieties of themes during The Looking Glass Wars that give the book a whole nother side of the story.
