Dear Mrs. Rosonke,
I am currently reading the book Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos. Nadira and her family have had many different struggles recently. Her family lives in America, but they tried going to Canada and were declined. Their visas expired so they were arrested trying to get back into America. The girls are living at home while the father is living in jail. The sisters are having lots of problems in school.
Throughout the book Ask Me No Questions we discover many different Realistic Fiction signposts. For example, on page 10 of Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos, we find a tough question. In Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, Aven struggles to fit in at her new school because people can’t get over the fact she doesn’t have arms. She had moved because her family bought an amusement park in Arizona. After struggling to fit in she finally meets somebody who also doesn’t quite fit in. His name is Connor he has a disability called tics. Aven finds out what she is capable of. Aven and Connor get over caring about what people think. In the book Ask Me No Questions a similar theme can be shown. They are immigrants who are attempting to move to Canada who are declined and forced back into America where their Visas are declined. This caused them to be detained where the father is kept. They think he did something wrong when he didn’t. Nadira found information proving he wasn’t guilty and now get the chance to re-apply for their Visas. She was able to find the information that adults couldn’t and get past the problems life threw at her. Both Aven and Nadira fought through their problems when they needed it the most. Even thought their problems were completely different they still got through them on their own. Throughout both books, they showed when life throws problems at you, you have to push to get through them and don’t give
