He attended Graton a high class preparatory school in Massachusetts from 1896-1900 where he received a BA in History from Harvard in only three years. He left school and within some years he entered the politics and was elected to the New York senate .He was reelected to the Senate State in 1912. As state senate he supported Woodrow Wilson 's candidacy at the Democratic National Convention. Wilson appreciated his support and made him assistant secretary of the Navy in 1913 until 1920.

In regard to expanding, The United States, bought Alaska from russia for 7.2 million dollars. And sugar farmers in Hawaii, overthrew the queen, and annexed to the United States. The citizens of America wanted isolationism but Woodrow Wilson had another idea and Japan had other ideas of their own as well. By the time World War ll was over Europe had lost a lot and Japan/Asia had regained most of what they had lost. America wanted to go back into isolationism but Woodrow Wilson went against that by signing the power treaty which led to him not winning the election but also tied America to other countries including Germany and Japan. In 1941, Japan had entered United States territory and dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii that killed over 1000 crew members from the United States Armed Forces, that had then later been one of the causes leading to the Second World War.
Nobel Peace Prize is a big deal, the people who receive these awards do something that led to change, and involves resolving issues between two nations. President Obama had received this award without having to do a thing resulting a controversy.
