Based on your resources this week, explain the theoretical perspectives of early versus late writing development.
Early writing development is defined as period in a child’s life where they master the writing system with certain consistencies. Using writing as a motor skill, children began to write in a form of scribbling. Hagtvey (2010) elaborate on children’s early drawing and the scripts that are made to refer to an object of some sort (Hagtvey, 2010). For example, a child could be told to draw a picture of their family and point out every member of the family within the scribbled lines of the drawing. It is important for children to put their thoughts and feelings together to create a structure by memory.
In the late writing development, individuals can analyze their writing developments by schooling, assessments, and the way they communicate. Over the years, as an individual write more other, communicate well with others, and build their vocabulary; their writing skills will improve. It is important to not only learn how to write, but to be able to understand what is being written. Being able to comprehend and understand the information being read and wrote enhances one’s knowledge on the subject, as well as their reading and writing skills (Hagtvey, 2010). …show more content…
