It is said that conflict is an inevitable part of every individual’s life and at some point every individual will come in contact with some type of conflict. According to Mitchell’s model of conflict, a conflict can be defined by two aspects, these being; behavior or attitudes towards a conflict. Conflict many have several different sources but for conflict in the workplace the following sources may be used to better identify sources of conflict in a work environment. Conflict may arise from members of a team, between employers and employees, between mangers and subordinates or even between employees and customers (Sohan, conflict, October 1, 2014) Therefore if there is conflict there must be methods of dealing with conflicts and more so consequences of conflict. This conflict resolution is competing. Competing involves emphasis, on an individual’s personal goals and generally involves a person working exclusively towards their desired solution to the conflict. This can be positive in some conflict cases but it generally fails to acknowledge or consider the opinions and needs of others involved in the conflict (Sohan, conflict, October 1, 2014) .The last method of conflict resolution is collaborating. Collaborating may be the best method of conflict solution due to the fact that it encourages individuals to work towards common goals.
