After theseus saved the 14 youths by defeating the minotaur in the maze of doom, The chaos had not yet ended. King Minos was still hiding another beast, one more powerful than the las. This beast was bigger in size, strength, and had one ability that made this beast very powerful, immortality. It could not be taken down even with his horns. And then King Minos declared that the sacrificing of 14 youths every nine years shall still occur.
Theseus is coming back on a boat from killing the Minotaur when he stops at Naxos to have a feast with the Athenians dedicated to him. After several hours of eating and drinking Ariadne {King Mino’s daughter] falls asleep and doesn’t return to the boat when it sails back to Athens. The gods see this and believe that Theseus left Ariadne behind on purpose. The gods decide to teach Theseus a lesson through sending Medusa aboard his boat to look at him and turn him into stone.
People around the world have heard of many heroes of Greek mythology and know of their adventures. Although the stories and myths of each hero slightly vary from place to place and person to person, the great feats that each has accomplished are common knowledge. One of the most accomplished heroes of Greek mythology is Theseus, the hero of Athens. This hero started with humble beginnings and eventually grew to be the most famous and respected demigod in ancient Athens (Ward, 7). Theseus’ mother, Aethra, was a princess and the daughter of Pittheus, the king of Troezen.
Theseus is the perfect example of a hero. He shows courage, strength, and cleverness while on his many adventures battling the one flaw that keeps him human. During Theseus' very first adventure to sail back to his father King Aegeus, he said that traveling by ship was too easy. He wants to prove himself ". . .
Theseus was known to take the phrase “an eye for an eye” to heart and was seen as a judge of the people. Before Theseus became a great hero, he traveled from land to land coming face-to-face with many evil-doers, “His idea of dealing justice was simple, but effective: what each had done to others, Theseus did to them” (Hamilton 210). For this reason, it proves that Theseus is the better epic hero. Whereas Perseus’s morals are somewhat foggy, Theseus’s are crystal clear. Be that as it may, even Theseus can’t escape the tragic fated ending for every great epic hero.
People are More than a Color People in the world today are often found not to get along, because of different backgrounds of ethnicity. Many people will say they dislike someone because of their personality just to hide that on the inside they really disapprove of their color. Those who conform to such idiotic thoughts based on race are the people that prevent this country from progressing due to their unwillingness to critically think wholeheartedly about significant racial issues, but choose to rely on past false perceptions without understanding the complexities of racial issues.. The story To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee conveys how social inequality, good and evil, and moral education contribute to racial stereotypes.
In the world of Greek Mythology, there are probably a couple of Gods that come to mind. Zeus, Hera, Ares, Apollo, ect. But have you heard of Theseus? Probably not. He is famous from when he had entered the Labyrinth ( An irregular path or maze), where the Minotaur (Half-Man and Half Bull) lived, he found the Minotaur and killed it with yarn, and that’s how he got out of the maze.
I think that everyone having access to everything has made everyone the same. There was a time when scenes from different parts of the country were so different. Not now. We travel a lot and basically everywhere seems the same. Same Starbucks, same Burger King, same Hot Topic, same... same...
America is more today than ever before a consumerist society, which saw its start in the 1920s. Present day Americans just like in the 1920s do rely on the production of goods to keep up with their demands and are spending their money on more than just their household necessities. Another thing that has stayed the same from the 1920s to present day is Americans constant need to be entertained. Because of the boom of the 20s more and more people had more money to spend an that spurred the start of people having more freetime and using their money for entertainment. American society especially right now is obsessed with immediate satisfaction which all saw its start in the 1920’s as an entertainment based culture as well.
Society has the concept that the bigger the better. They have the idea that bigger things/people tend to be more successful. Yes, bigger people have more advantages than shorter/smaller people and our more likely to be successful. But, smaller/shorter people can also become successful, just like a taller/bigger person or even more successful. This is because there are many smaller/shorter people who have made a difference and have become successful.
Theseus having conquered them all, was seen as someone who acted in ways to advance and better Greek civilization. Upon his arrival in Athens, the sorcerous Medea, having recognized Theseus as the son of King Aegeus, sent Theseus on a quest to kill a bull that had been terrorizing the land. In completing his quest, Theseus’ once again overcame an obstacle on
In the world today a lot of people are afraid to try things that have never been done before, or things that are not done often but admire people that do. Theseus was one of the people that took those risks. For example; Theseus went to battle the minotaur by himself, which had never been tried, he gave Athens democracy, which had also never been
Hercules and Theseus, two great heroes from mythology, seem to be similar in many ways. Both extremely brave and noble; with a love of danger and adventure mixed with compassion, creates the perfect heroes. Their stories intertwine with one another’s when Hercules has to save Theseus from the chair of forgetfulness in Hades. Theseus saved Hercules when he was distraught with intent to kill himself. In a similar way, they both stood by their friends no matter the cost.
People can not form their own thoughts on a topic given to them without looking up the topic and copying and pasting some part of what they find on the internet. People today just skim most of what they read which does not help people understand what they just read, which in the end leads to
