295 Words2 Pages
In the story, The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson, the characters act as if the lottery is a casual event and some, such as the children, were even enthusiastic about it. While getting ready for the lottery, the men talked casually while watching over their children, who were excited about the event. Also stated in the text, “Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys followed his example” (Jackson 1).
