The Lottery The Lottery is basically around a fictional town of about three hundred people. In this alternate world towns have something they like to call the Lottery. The Lottery is a disgusting tradition, these people have grown up with. Before I just give away the lottery and ruin this whole summary I am going to start from the beginning of the story. It was June 27th a summer day. The town was getting ready for the big day the lottery. The children were talking about school being out playing, laughing getting ready for the big event! Mr.Summers allowed it, but the original rules were the man of the house must draw. Mr. Summers calls the last names of every family. Mr. Warner the oldest man in town talks about how we need to stick with tradition and the town has already changed much. The families stand waiting impatiently to find out if they “won.” I personally would be freaking out about the lottery when I tell you what happens next! A man is called named Bill! Mrs. Hutchinson his wife starts shouting, saying he didn’t have enough time to choice. Just by the way the author wrote this I can see the terror in her eyes on what's going to happen next. She convinces Mr.Summers to have her whole family redraw giving Bill more time to draw as well as evening all the family members the opportunity to win! They all draw. Mrs. Hutchinson gets the black dot. The town prepares to give her her winning prize! They begin to pick up stones from the pile as Mrs. Hutchinson was in clear
