It was self-explanatory at first when determining what was needed, but initially I had issues in finding the articles due to the limited nature of the topic. What were more available were books, and with I looked at the author’s background and what validity they posed to the research being conducted. One of the biggest things I was looking for, was relevancy. It had to be relevant and fit my criteria in terms of what I needed for my research. What seemed to be the easiest part was the outline to help my assignment.
I referred to unit 7’s discussion post where you outlined your essay. So far your research has proven to make for an interesting essay. I’m sorry I did not find a persuasive thesis statement in Unit 8 though, meaning I’m not convinced that there should be a policy change. I know you stated this is a working thesis statement which was not included in unit 8’s post. If you don’t mind, I would like to give some guidance.

After reading chapter seven-teen (17) about research and arguments for academic writing. I have to agree, that doing good and useful research for a paper that is going to be read not only by your professor in college, but also possibly by an audience that could include, professionals from your chosen field, is crucial. Therefore, the better the research that you collect, will result in the ability for you to write a better and more informed article or paper on your topic. What, I found interesting in this chapter was the example on “Nature Deficit Diorder” at the end of the chapter.

I have done a lot of research in my undergrad, but I never knew what fully went into the publication part of research. It is important to know the different types of articles such as empirical studies, literature reviews, theoretical articles, methodological articles, and case studies (American Psychological Association, 2017). It is important to know and understand the differences between each type of article, because they focus on different aspects. I also found it interesting all the fine details you must consider when publishing research, such as conflict of interest.
The research paper is less daunting if you use the annotated bibliographies and project outline as its foundation. You should try not to rush through your research, don’t settle on the first source you find. You should analyze and evaluate each source before incorporating them into your paper. Starting college and working on your first research paper can be overwhelming. However, if you make a plan and start your work early, you set yourself up for success.
I started my research notes by going to the school library and finding a topic I wanted to research about. I looked through different topics and different books and I couldn’t find anything I wanted to research about. I found a book about Juveniles and knew I wanted to research about them because they go through a lot and there is a lot of information I don’t know about them. The topic I chose was about Juveniles going to adult prison. I read through the book and wrote down notes for this book.

Through the research and data found I was able to make a convincing argument and conclude the paper. Even though, I have completed the overview paper, I desired to have known specifics when it came to writing in APA format as well as citing sources. As a whole the paper was effortless, but the bibliography created challenges such as the order and finding information that needed to be included in the source. I wish that I had a clear understanding of citing sources before I started. Overall, I found that I wrote with ease and an appreciation to complete my research paper.
Throughout my speech, I looked at my notecards quite a lot and didn’t really look at the camera. The first speech I did, I looked at my notecards many times and people critiqued that. The beginning of my speech was great but my conclusion was really short and didn’t wrap up the whole essay. My speech was a little short from five minutes and I think it’s because I didn’t’ expand my conclusion more.
Position statement: For college Should I or should I not, that is the decision we all encounter when we finally reach high school. Now, there are many factors that will affect a person’s life. The most important of these factors is whether or not one has a college degree. Through out this essay I will discuss why I believe that it would be advantageous for students to continue their education in college.
