In the first draft the author jumps right to the thesis statement and the publisher’s purpose. He does not have a clear introduction because it was missing an attention getter. The author started talking what the essay was going to be about, and for me it was just like the author didn’t want to spend more time working on the introduction. The author had some problems with sentence structure, moreover, I think that the author wanted to be more specific about what he/ she was talking about that sometimes he/she confused himself.
She claims that the title and the introduction needs to tell the reader clearly what they are going to read. This opens the reader to the essay and the information in order to process the essay completely (Lunsford). She conveys that in the conclusion the writer needs to reevaluate the reader of the claim/ thesis. After that evaluate your sources in the paper, Lunsford suggests to organize all the sources In addition to drafting, the writer must proofread the essay to see if it needs improvement (Lunsford). In Chapter One of Thomas Cooley’s The Norton Sampler: Short Essays for Composition, the audience was exposed to several strategies recommended for reading pieces of literature. These strategies were divided into three segments: Previewing the Text, Reading Closely and Critically, and Responding to What You Read. Each segment contained a list of either advice or questions the reader could heed to while analyzing their given text. Later, the chapter exposed the audience to the four traditional types of writing utilized.
For instance, the author tells how the poodle used to be a hunting dog and the reason why its hair was cut with a lions main was because then the dog could swim better. FINISH As the reader going through the essay each paragraph leads into the next creating a nice flow throughout the essay. I found that the organization of the essay was chronological and made sense as a whole. Each paragraph was evidence that supported the argument/conclusion. Although I thought there was too much evidence to support the argument the organization of the essay was spot on.
I referred to unit 7’s discussion post where you outlined your essay. So far your research has proven to make for an interesting essay. I’m sorry I did not find a persuasive thesis statement in Unit 8 though, meaning I’m not convinced that there should be a policy change. I know you stated this is a working thesis statement which was not included in unit 8’s post. If you don’t mind, I would like to give some guidance.
