What should be the ultimate goal of all humans? What should be the ultimate goal of all humans? Is it love, happiness, to be rich, and to grow old and have a beautiful big house? In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, tells a story about him, a Jewish boy from Sighet, a small town in Transylvania, who got sent to the concentration camp with his father during the Holocaust. Throughout the book, he focuses on surviving and working his way out of there or else he will die. Although this book tells us that survival should always be the primary goal and priority, I believe it should not always be the primary goal in life because it is only a goal for a life or death situation and humans evolve in current society. I believe survival should not always be our primary goal. My first reason to back this claim is that survival is only a goal for a life or death situation. In the book, Elie and his father are suffering and struggling to keep up with the work and hardship in the concentration camp. Everyone can’t be military soldiers fighting in wars because then who will be the ones in school teaching our kids? Who will be the ones growing crops for our food? We can all have jobs, go to college, marriage, build new inventions, study and explore a whole new area of knowledge, but focusing only on survival would not be beneficial for the entire population. Humans evolve through time so survival isn’t a goal anymore and by starting other different goals can expand society and community because if we all have the same mindset of just surviving, nothing will change. When my father was growing up, he barely had anything and was poor, but when he started to become successful and built his way up to achieve his dream job, he had everything he wanted so he didn’t have to worry about survival
