Expressing Our Authentic Voice-Throat Chakra The first of the spiritual chakras, the Throat Chakra. It is the fifth of the seven major chakras also known as Vishuddha. Vishuddha is interpreted as purification in the Sanskrit translation. The Throat Chakra bridges the heart and the mind. It is not about who you are. It is about how you communicate who you are to others. The Throat Chakra is located in the throat near adam’s apple. The energy center is associated with your voice. A healthy chakra will allow you to express ideas clearly, truthfully, and gracefully. This will allow you to become harmoniously attuned to both inner and outer vibrations. The universal energies are shifting toward the encouragement to speak truthfully. Oprah stated in her Golden Globe speech, “What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.” This is not giving people a license to be unnecessarily cruel. Speaking your truth is NOT saying whatever comes to your mind that may be hurtful or is coming from a place of anger. Speaking your truth comes from a place of love and kindness. I truly believe that we are all good and have kindness to share with the world around us. When we have the urge to speak out of anger typically there is an underlining emotion that needs to be addressed by admitting our truth to ourselves. Admitting our truth to ourselves may be the hardest part. Accepting every emotion without blame or shame is a crucial element. Accepting these emotions does not mean that the words need to leave your mouth. Four Golden Rules: • Don’t speak when you are angry. Take time to cool down first. • Understand that others will have their own version of their truth. • Be prepared to feel vulnerable. Sharing our authentic self can be uncomfortable at
