Things Are Different Now It is interesting to see that hilarious videos could pass on more information than expected. Although the people passing the message across seem to lack ethical appeal, it was really informative. The analysis of the three videos clearly reveals that ethos, logos and pathos were all used to pass the message across. The Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks video set in 1955 displays racism and segregation. The intended audience for this video is basically everyone. The president of the NAACP suggested that Claudette Colvin should be the face of the anti-segregation movement but because she was just a 15 year old girl, Rosa Parks was suggested. Rosa Parks had to sit in the bus to get evidence that black people were being sent to jail for sitting in the white people section. They all believed that the world will listen to someone older. This was where logos (logical appeal) was displayed. The way Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks connected shows the use of pathos (emotional appeal). Thomas Jefferson video portrayed two public figures who built America fighting to become president in 1800. The video presents pathos because of the emotions shared between the two. Before they became rivals, they were best of friends. They started making negative comments about each other. This video does not portray logos because there was no evidence to proof what either of them was saying was true. Without evidence there is no way the audience is going to believe what either of them were saying about each other. “Truth is inherently superior” (Austin 468) “John Adams is a hermaphrodite” (Thomas Jefferson) and “If you are thinking of voting for Thomas Jefferson, you shouldn’t, because he’s dead” (John Adams).
