One of a basic human trait that one must have have is, emotional courage.This trait helps with the idea of how one coups with the idea of long periods of separation.Whether this be from reality itself or a loved one.The role that emotional courage plays in an individual who is experiencing this separation is a large part of if they can withstand the idea of separation.Or if they crack under the idea of being alone and develop an need and a want to be with others constantly.In the short story Things that fly,By Douglas Coupland. It's obvious that our nariorator has gone through crisis of some sort.He makes comments like “in spite of everything that has happened in my life”,this leads us to believe that our narrator has been through some stuff lately.He finally has enough of the stif silent air in his home and decides to go to his parents house.He notices that his mother and his father are walking on eggshells around him because they knew what had happened. He separates himself from them in the guest room.
