The Treaty of Versailles had three major provisions which are self-determination for nationalities, Germany had to accept all responsibility for the war and pay high fines to the Allies, and President Wilson’s “general association of nations” which is called League of Nations within the treaty (Schultz, n.d.).

By forcing Germany to pay the steep fines this meant their economy would not recover after the war. Without Germany recovering from the war and their government unstable this lead to the ideal time for the rise of Adolf Hitler (Schultz, n.d.).
