When most people hear the name Tiger Woods, their first thought probably goes deep into his massive scandal that has now covered headlines for years. When I hear the name Tiger Woods, I think of someone that, like Superman, could do things that no one else is capable of. There are several reasons that Tiger should be considered a superhero in the world of golf even today. Professional golf very well may be the hardest sport to be consistent at. Even the best players on Earth can be phenomenal one day and horrendous the next. That’s just how golf is and any golfer could tell people that. On June 15, 1997 Tiger took the top spot in the OWGR. He was just 21 years and 167 days old. This is just the first of many examples of how Tiger has done things that no one else is capable of. Not only was Tiger the youngest world number one, he also has been in the number one spot in the rankings longer than anyone else. The OWGR has been around since April 6, 1986. Since that time, Tiger has spent an astounding 683 weeks at number one in the world and the next closest isn’t even half the amount of time with Greg Norman at 331 weeks atop the OWGR. Unfortunately Tiger’s ‘kryptonite’ happened to be his morality. As many already know, in late 2009 the tabloids started reporting that Tiger was cheating on his wife. After that, Tiger’s career went into a massive snowball effect as many women started coming out to the public about affairs they had with Tiger. His wife eventually left him, he took a break from golf, lost most of his sponsors, went to a sex addiction rehab, lost his ability to dominate other PGA players and eventually injured himself to the point where it has now been almost eight years since the scandal came out and the golf world is still waiting for Tiger to win his first major since this fiasco began.
