For example when he uses the term his little eyes like hot coals. He also he says Rikki-tikki-tavi fought single-handed, through the bathrooms of the big bungalow in Segowlee cantonment (para#31). The term “his little eyes like hot coals,” mean when a mongoose’s eyes grow red, he is angry. Personification proves the theme by showing, that when you give up on something, maybe a fight you won’t win if you don’t try, you have to put all you effort into what you are doing. To begin with, in the story the author gives some personification in about each paragraph. For example, when a mongoose fights the snake and happens to get bitten, he runs off and eats some herb that cures him.(para#32). Another example would be when Rikki-tikki said he was too well bred to bite or scratch(para#36).
