Rudyard Kipling did an excellent job of using multiple factors to paint a picture of what he wanted his characters personality to be. One of the characteristics he portrays Rikki to have is bravery. One example of this is the narrator quotes, “It is the hardest thing in the world to scare a mongoose, because he is eaten up from nose to tail with curiosity”. This is a very blunt and straightforward of telling the reader that Rikki is scared of nothing. By saying this, he’s, without us knowing, describing Rikki’s character, painting that picture for us. Another characteristic he depicting is selflessness. He gives us reason to believe he’s unselfish when Rikki notices Karait, when Rikki saw him, he immediatley jumps toward Karait. By doing this,
