Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a book written by Kipling. It became a film later on, but there are many differences in the movie. There are many differences, but just as much similarities.
One of the similarities is setting. The majority of the story is placed in the bungalow. “One day, a high summer flood washed him out of his burrow…” (Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, p#1). This was also shown in the movie. Later on, he is found by Teddy, a young boy who says “Here’s a dead mongoose, let’s have a funeral.”(Rikki-Tikki-Tavi,#1). This is also expressed by Teddy in the movie. Although, when the narrator describes Rikki-Tikki, he gives more detail than the movie. This shows that the movie was not exactly like the book. “...and his war cry as he scuttled through the long grass was Rikk-tikk-tikki-tikki-tchk!”(Rikki-Tikki-Tavi,#1) was mentioned in the story, but not the movie.

One of those differences is the resolution of the story. In the end of the book, Darzee starts a song of triumph to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi after he killed Nagaina. “Singer and tailor am I—Doubled the joys that I know—Proud of my lilt to the sky,Proud of the house that I sew.Over and under, so weave I my music—so weave I the house that I sew.”(Rikki-Tikki-Tavi,#13) Is just one of the stanzas in the song. In the movie however, It ends with the narrator saying that Rikki-Tikki kept the garden safe. Another difference is when in the movie, Teddy takes a bath which Rikki-Tikki falls into. Yet in the book, a shower is never
