During her trial, many people were called as witnesses to testify against her. Even her children went as far to say that “they were witches themselves, but that their mother had made them so”. Though her children’s statement was not used against her, there was already enough sufficient statements that were claimed to be true “evidence” against the case of Martha Carrier.
In the book SlaughterHouse-Five, the main character Billy Pilgrim, is an anti-hero who jump travels through time and past events in his mind. Billy’s definition of what is going on is that he has “come unstuck in time.” (Slaughterhouse-five 1) The looming question is if the travels that billy experiences are actually true. Could a person actually know what is going to happen before it does, or jump from one moment to the next…
“The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien falls into the new historism category based on the different forms of discourse. For example, O’Brien often writes about the various soldiers of Alpha company and the various things they carried them in addition to why they carried them. This provides a helpful insight because we are able to see the differences of this squad of men, whether it is their height, build or religious preferences, the things they carry are all a piece of that individuals character. Although this story was produced in 1990 it calls on the experiences of the author and the validity of his experiences.

Although Helen is portrayed as meek and kindhearted, much like Tom, the overwhelming sadness and pressure may have caused her to break down emotionally, or feel some emotions of vengeance towards a majority of the white community; especially the Ewells. In the novel, the black church provides her with funding and support while Tom is in court.

Time travel is a concept that most people only believe to exist in works of pure science fiction, but it may be a reality within the next generation. It is possible that if we travel close to the speed of light, we can travel forward in time; however, today 's technology has not provided us with a way to get back home. The fastest object created by man has gone 164,700 miles per hour or 45.75 miles per second (The Fastest Man-Made Objects, 2018). That is only 0.002 percent the speed of light, which would only send you into the future 2 milliseconds if you were on the ship for a whole day. The only plausible way to go back in time, is to open up a wormhole to the point that you would like to travel back to, travel into the future, make the other end of the wormhole travel at the speed of light.
People use literacy to express their thoughts, feeling and sometimes experiences. Some stories are similar and others are not, these stories are then categorized into different genres to have a universal organization for the many literature pieces we have. I have decided to read and analyze a collection of stories that all fall under the genre of dystopian fiction. By imagining and writing about the extremes of a society, which are dystopian societies in these stories our present society is enabling itself for the actions, it needs to take in the chance of a similar event. Human instinct finds comfort in a situation that one has experienced before but the fear of the unknown causes threat.
