Question 1: TJ was a quiet and gentle kid from Alabama. He was like Antaeus because when Antaeus was not touching the ground he became weak enough to be killed.This is similar to TJ because after he moved and before they grew the plants he was very quiet and seemed sad. TJ’s eyes also looked “washed out”. Also, when Antaeus was touching the earth he became so strong that no one could beat him. When TJ was farming he was determined and he had more energy. TJ was much more different from before he grew the plants to when he grew the plants. Question 2: At first the setting relates to a wasteland. The setting takes place up north during a time of war. There seems to be not a lot of plants and the town seems to be dark. Then TJ gets the gang to grow a garden on the roof of a factory. This is when the wasteland is turned into a garden. First, TJ’s past is very mysterious. All the audience know is that he is from the South and used to be a farmer. Next, he goes through a preparation phase. This is all the time he spends moving good soil up to the roof. TJ was working really hard to grow this garden. Then he grows the garden and feels accomplished. TJ also shares the quality of the tragic flaw. TJ gets upset when he finds out that the owner of the building is going to get rid of the garden. TJ then ruins the garden himself and runs away for 2 weeks. It is tragic because TJ spent so much time and effort on the garden and he just ruined it
