In this essay I will describe each of the conflicts from the stories “To Build a Fire”, “The Open Window”, “Thank You, Ma’am”, “The Most Dangerous Game” and “The Bean Eaters” and how each character has their own conflict and their strategies to cope with it. In the first story “To Build a Fire”, the conflict is that the man is travelling in below zero temperatures and he is by himself, except fort his dog. The dog knows it is too cold outside in that type of weather, and even when one of the men at Sulpher Creek warned him not to travel alone he still does it anyway. To an extent it is a factor as to whether or not he livers or dies. His fingers are so cold that he can’t even get a match lit his inner conflict is fading, nature is winning so he takes his life and dies. …show more content…

Her stories seem so real that it actually changes Mr. Nuttels frame of reality. An example of that is he expected to see three ghosts come through the window so when he saw the men coming towards him he couldn’t get out fast enough and this also shows that Mr. Nuttel is naïve, gullible and isn’t all there. It starts a conflict because he is in a country for a nervous condition and he questions his sanity after hearing the story from Vera. In the third story “Thank You, Ma’am”, Mrs. Jones decides to take him home with her because she feels bad for him and his situation. Rogers character is described a young teenage boy who isn’t being looked after at home and seems as though he is homeless. Mrs. Jones character is described as being tough, sincere and an honest woman even though Roger tries to steal her purse she still is nice and gives him a second chance so you could say she is pretty nice.
