(Lee 119) Atticus in the book is a lawyer and he uses his power and willpower to defend an African American man named Tom Robinson because he is accused of raping a woman Mayella Ewell. Atticus has two children, one is a female Jean Louise Finch but she likes to go by Scout. Scout Finch, is a white little girl, who is 6 years old. Her older brother Jem Finch is one of two characters who have seen many interesting and crazy events that show how crazy and racist people are. Someone has already started to become more and more mad. But also that someone will do something so crazy, so mad in the head that it will affect everything that happens in the book, just like the trial. The dog was then shot by Atticus as many called him a one shot finch. After the trial, the jury said that Tom Robinson was found guilty of raping Mayella and then soon whenever one left the court house Atticus was going to see Helen about Tom's death. The mad dog came as well, not for Helen but for Atticus. He said he will do anything to get back at Atticus for embarrassing him in court. That man was Bob Ewell and he was so embarrassed because Atticus pointed out the fact that he was left handed and Atticus figured out it wasn't Tom that touched Mayella. It was her father, Bob Ewell.
