649 Words3 Pages

I am currently reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and I am on page 42. This book is about the Finch family who lives in Maycomb, Alabama. The book is mainly about Scout Finch who is the youngest girl in the family. Scout has one brother named Jem. They live in a small town where everyone knows everyone and many people are related to one another. One summer the young kids meet a friend named Dill, who is obsessed with Boo Radley. Boo (Arthur) Radley is the town's odd body who is said to have gotten into lots of trouble and into terrifying situations. When summer ends, Scout starts first grade and Jem enters fifth grade. Scout has a rough first day of school and gets in lots of trouble. I have also learned many different characteristics …show more content…

One reason why I predict they will not meet him is because he has never been seen. The children have only heard stories about Boo never actually seen him in person. The Radley’s have always had their house shut and the doors are always closed. Even on Sundays, when everyone is milling about and going to church. Nobody kept their doors shut on Sundays unless the weather was bad or someone was ill. The second reason why the kids will not meet Boo is because the children are scared of him. Boo Radley has a bad reputation that gravitates the kids towards not wanting to meet him. The kids have also heard the frightened stories about Boo. The children have heard that Boo only comes out at night and he dined on squirrels. Scout and Jem have also heard the story of how Boo Radley stabbed his dad with a scissors. “As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent’s leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities.” (Lee 13). The final reason why the kids are scared of him is because he used to be a part of a gang. When Boo Radley was in his teens he was a part of a gang along with some of the Cunninghams. They did little but they still got charged with crimes in court. For those reasons and for many more, I think the kids will not meet Boo (Arthur)
