Two questions about the mob scene. Why does the mob leave? One reason why I think the mob left is because Atticus was prepared for them. While sitting outside of the jail, Atticus knew a mob would show up because of the trial. Atticus stayed calm and read his newspaper. He also did not want to fight off the mob in anyway. Another reason why I think the Mob left the jail is because of Scout. When Scout takes a second to evaluate the mob, she recognizes Mr. Cunningham. As Scout starts a conversation with Mr. Cunningham, she brings up Walter and tells him to tell Walter she says hi. Mr. Cunningham realizes that he will be hurting a good man who has helped him.
