Scout is a 6 year old girl and also the narrator in To Kill a Mockingbird. There is an ongoing debate about whether scout was a reliable narrator for this award winning book. Scout Lives in the 1930’s when money was scarce and people struggled find jobs due to the great depression and racial tensions were a big part of life. Scout was reliable as a narrator because she was there through all the things that went on in the book and it was a significant part of her life so she probably remembers everything quite well also she is a child and has no need to lie about these facts and sugarcoat them.
Scout is telling this story as an adult and i think she remembers it quite well because she was there when everything went on. She was the main character of the story she's been through everything with them. She also knew about everything that was going on even if she wasn't there. She is also explaining everything in great detail and i don't think she could have made all those things up that she said and explained. In the story she tells exactly how dill looked with detail and i don't think that was making that up.

When something really significant and great happens you tend to remember it in detail and i think that's exactly what happened with scout. In the book it says her summers with Dill and Jem were great and that also is most likely a reason she remembered, because she didn't want to
