Macbeth. A very tragic and gory tale told and written by ole William Shakespeare, himself. This play takes place in Scotland and part of England for some of the story. What is going to be talked about in this essay is if Macbeth was more of the villain character, with Macduff and Banquo as more of the heroes. How are they alike? How are they different? Macbeth, in some people’s eyes, is more of the villain kind than hero. Macbeth was a man. A monster. A murderer. Macbeth can be seen as the villian. Maybe people can see him as a hero in some ways. At the beginning of the story, Macbeth may have been taken as the hero of the story. The mighty man who helped defend their country (Scotland) against the Norwegian forces and single handed took down then King of Norway. “Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires: The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be, Which the eye fears, when it is done, to see.” (1.4.55-60) He’s practically telling himself that he hopes God and the “light” doesn’t see what evil he is about to perform. He is known for being an avenging hero and not a revenge kind of guy. Macduff and Macbeth are alike when Macbeth finally finishes off the rest of Macduff’s family. At that moment, Macduff takes it personally and to revenge instead of avenge. Macduff is in a way, Macbeth himself. They both won’t stop killing until, what they think, will be peace and the bloodshed with stop. When Macduff finally finds Macbeth in the final battle, he says “My voice is in my sword, thou bloodier villain Than terms can give thee out!” (5.8.8-9).
