"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than itself" - Joseph Campbell. Benjamin Franklin did many things that helped America and gave up many things to do that. He was one of the first to believe that America should be independent. He also helped develop the Declaration of Independence and signed the Constitution. Being the person who secured the assistance of France during the Revolutionary War, he is considered a hero to many people. Benjamin Franklin's efforts during the American Revolution should be considered heroic of him for a few different reasons. The first reason that Benjamin Franklin should be considered a hero would be the fact that he achieved many different and extraordinary things in his lifetime. For instance, the article “Ben Franklin” states, “His achievements in political, science and letters were unrivaled” (Wattenberg 6). He was a successful printer and writer and is credited with the discovery of electricity. He was a brilliant inventor as well. Franklin was most famous for his witty and wise sayings.
