Although Tony Stark undoubtedly begins his life as a spoiled rich kid, he evolves and becomes a code hero throughout the events in Jon Favreau's Iron Man. In the opening scenes of Iron Man, Tony Stark can be seen blissfully enjoying the benefits of his successful company. He has built a name for himself, and he knows just how important he is to the world. This is why when he is kidnapped and held hostage by Afghan terrorists, he realizes the true influence he has on the world. While Stark is held hostage by his captors, he realizes that the very same weapons that his company produces were being used by the terrorists his country was fighting. His attitude changes from a snarky arrogant billionaire to a kind and strong hero. Even after facing great tragedy and suffering, Tony Stark is determined to make a difference in the world and to help others, putting aside his own feelings. After freeing himself from his kidnappers, Tony Stark builds his Iron Man suit, a weapon that can be used to protect innocent people as shown throughout the movie. Shortly after building his suit, he travels back to his place of kidnapping in order to help rescue a village under attack. Unlike most, Stark isn’t worried about the outcome of this event, his only concern is saving the families in this village, as a code hero would do. As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Stark's own business partner has been working with the terrorists to provide them with weapons. Tony does not just accept defeat and continue working for this
