. In the two texts, Confetti Girl and Tortilla Sun, both narrators have contrasting view form their parents. Each girl and her parent have opposing views and misunderstandings, ultimately causing tension in the family. Both girls in each story fail to realize the good that their parents are trying to do for them and are lost in their own thinking of their parents are only trying to benefit themselves. One narrator feels her homework isn’t as important as her father says it is, while the other narrator disagrees with her mom about moving into her grandmother’s house for two months. For example, in paragraph 26 the narrator writes,”He might say I matter, but when he goes on a scavenger hunt for a book. I realize that i really don’t.” This shows that her father is really into books and finds homework to be very essential, but its to a point where she thinks he’s neglecting her. She doesn’t realize that his motivation of her doing homework will ultimately benefit her. As her father is discussing ELA class, clearly showing his enthusiasm for books, she continuously tries to change the subject , but nothing seems to get him off the topic, which makes her very annoyed. In paragraphs 20-23 the dialogue between the narrator and her father shows that she has no interest in what her dad is talking about, but he continues to discuss it with her. Lines 20-23 state “‘Okay, Dad. I get it. So did I tell you we're having a book sale for our next fundraiser?’ ‘What else are you doing in English?’ he asks. ‘Reading any novels?’I sigh, bored, but he doesn't get the hint. He just waits for my answer. ‘Yes,’ I finally say. ‘I don't remember the title, but it's got a rabbit on the cover.’ ‘Is it Watership Down? It's got to be Watership Down.’ ‘Yes, that's it.
