Two years later we entered Iraq. Many soldiers that were deployed over seas returned home with disabilities, or didn 't return home at all. 9/11 was a scary and devastating time for many families. September 11, 2001. A day that many hate to remember and a day the world will never forget. The devastating attack on America that occurred on 9/11 was not only a wake up call but also reveled that America was the impenetrable State she displayed herself as. The president at this time was George W. Bush; he has to act quickly and intelligently. This called for immediate attention and had the attention of single person in America.

The first time that being a teenager was ‘popularised’ was during the 1950s, when youths aged 13-19 wanted to be unique, and unlike the older generations. They turned to rock and roll music, younger television shows, and movies to distance themselves from being involved with the culture of their parents. This compared to teenagers in the 80s and 90s when there was a large uprising of rebellion and angst.

Almost every American citizen remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing on that day because it is such a historic moment for the United States. America completely changed after 9/11 nobody’s life was the same, everyone from the President of the United States to the mailman felt the effects of 9/11, and that included my Grandfather. My grandfather is named Vernon Cotten and he is a judge in a small town in Mississippi called Carthage that has a population of 5,000. He remembers the tragedy vividly.

September 11, 2001, I was in my history class and there was a knock on the door. Our teacher answered the door and had a discussion with a staff member. Mr Jenkins walked back into the classroom with a fearful look on his face. He informed us that a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. At that time we turned on the television and within minutes the second aircraft crashed into the world trade center.

In this essay, we will be telling you the differences and similarities between the 1960s and the 2000s. The year 1969 was 49 years ago but that does not mean that it was forgotten, some of the things in the 1960s are still here today in 2018. Some of the activities we will be comparing is economy, president 's, education, jobs, celebrities, dances, entertainment, and music. A national event that happened in my decade was the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. What happened was a group of terrorists bombed the twin towers in the United States of America. The event happened in New York. The attack started in February 26, 1993. What happened was a truck drove into the north tower and blew up.
It really has not changed much since then. This cycle seems to repeat itself over and over. According to Brake, “Young people have always suffered from the envious criticism of their elders” (1). The bombing at Pearl Harbor was considered one of the most significant events in American history. To start off, Pearl Harbor wasn’t just an out of the ordinary attack. There was several reasons why Chuichi Nagumo Isoroku Yamamoto, leader of Japan at the time, called for an attack on Pearl Harbor. There was tension built up between the United States and Japan until finally the United states decided to put forth an embargo (“One Thing Leads To Another”).
It showed that even the most powerful country in the world was subject to attack. This attack exposed the vulnerability of the United States as a nation. The 9/11 attacks changed the country forever; some lost family members, friends, and those who survived are forever hunted by the events of September 11, 2001. The entire country was in pandemonium including my family.
