How It Relates
Relation to Coursework This most closely relates to my recruiting, selection, and planning course that I have taken while at The University of Toledo. Many techniques I have learned about writing job descriptions, the types of employment tests that are applicable in certain situations, and what cut scores are appropriate for certain jobs. When selecting Call Center Interviewers and our interns, this information is extremely helpful in understanding why MaritCX uses the employment tests it uses and why we score people the way that we do. This knowledge applied to the new hire orientation for the Call Center employees, because during the human resources portion of the training I need to engage the employees and ensure they will retain what I am trying to teach them regarding our policies. In order to do so I try to apply motivational theories and transfer theories when I carry out the training. I engage the employees via games and review questions and have them practice the information during the training as much as possible. I can also apply these theories in training new interns as they come in. Their training is less formal and does not include as much lecture as training the Call Center employees. When training interns I am able to apply the concept of chunking the information to help the interns from getting overwhelmed, which in turn helps them retain what they are learning. Not only will I have the experience needed to do whatever role I am in after graduation, I will also have the confidence to carry out my tasks without questioning my capabilities. This means that I will require less training and onboarding time before I can become a successful contributor at the company. In addition, I may have the experience to begin learning and taking on new responsibilities more quickly than someone who may not have had any previous work or internship experience in the field. This allows me to jumpstart my career in the direction I would like it to go very soon after graduation. It will not take as many years after graduation to reach the level of responsibility or the amount of money I would like in my
