Transformative Presentations Of Epilepsy Case Study

After listening to so many informative presentations on birth defects and disabilities, I am much more educated in regards to several different topics. The presentations that I found the most interesting were the ones I had heard of, but had never bothered to learn about. All of the presentations, but especially the following five, influenced me greatly and I am so happy I have learned more about these disorders. Jackie and Alyssa’s presentation on Epilepsy was one of the most moving presentations because of the 911 call we listened to that was scary to listen to, let alone live through. I can’t imagine going through what Jackie went through, especially at such a young age. It must have also been terrifying for her mother, who felt helpless in the moment. Although Jackie hasn’t had a seizure in many years, I can imagine why it would still be very scary to think about it happening again. I had heard of this disorder before, but I did not know about many of the effects. The frustration came from knowing how preventable this disorder was, but also learning that at least 5,000 babies are diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome each year. Moreover, the effects can greatly impact the child and their family; some effects are intellectual disability, delayed intellectual development, poor concentration, and impulsiveness. Although I never intended to drink during my own pregnancy someday, learning about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome convinced me even more of how horrible drinking can be for a baby, if it was not already clear enough. I can’t imagine drinking during your pregnancy, knowing how it would affect your child. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is completely preventable and causes so many unnecessary problems, it isn’t worth risking to drink even the smallest
