The most important part of data collecting is finding the people or places to study, establish contact, and then build a rapport (Creswell, 2013). This is still a daunting task for me because there are not many if any transitional homes in my area. Thus far, the transitional homes are located in Chicago. Once approved by the IRB it is my hope that I can contact one of these agencies. If I have resistance I am hoping to share with them my previous research and hopefully that will be my way in because transitional homes are very strict on who they let inside the home.
Next, since this is a phenomenological study criterion sampling works the best because this sampling focuses on people who have experienced the same phenomenon (Creswell, 2013). As far as the fidelity and trustworthiness aspect, the criterion sampling is useful for quality assurance (Creswell, 2013). In addition, I was considering 10 participants using open-ended questions and an audiotape.
