A Girl into a Woman The University of Nevada, Reno supplies endless amounts of opportunities to get involved on and off campus, one being Greek Life. Greek Life consists of numerous fraternities and sororities who share common ideals, morals, values, and interests. The sorority I affiliate with is known as Delta Delta Delta, or most commonly known as Tri Delta. I am an active pledge of Tri Delta. A pledge is a new member that has been invited into membership, but has not been initiated. This is my second month of being a part of this Discourse community. The purpose of Tri Delta is to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual

There are about 260 members of Tri Delta at the University of Nevada, Reno. In order to be a member of Tri Delta, there is a huge process called Rush Week, where you basically speed date all the sororities on campus to see and find out which one fits you. According to Allison Baeulieu, an active sorority sister of mine, “a Tri Delta is a woman who is honest, reliable, selfless, and who can step up to the plate and take credible action to our chapter”. I respect that in this chapter only welcomes girls that carry themselves with grace and class. Every sorority in Tri Delta makes a big picture of the Fraternity. While other sororities make up its own community, the Tri Delta community consists of over 130 collegiate chapters and 250 alumnae chapters all in which separate into 5 regions of the country. Overall, Tri Delta includes 16,000 collegiate members and 200,000 alumnae members. Tri Delta has been around since 1888, and has been on campus for 103 years this spring. This helps display that Delta Delta Delta is very selective in the choice of women that have represent the chapter, making the Tri Delta community only as strong, proud, successful, and sustainable as the women who make up this
