The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire begun on March 25,1911. The fire started because someone had dropped a cigarette and started the fire. The fire started on the 8th floor of the factory, it continued up to the 9th floor. The fire killed around 145 workers. Some people jumped and killed themselves rather than getting burned alive, one jumper survived the jump. Most of the victims died due to lack of safety. If there were more fire escapes and more fire exits than there would not be have been as many casualties, or there would been no casualties. The lock doors also played a major role on the casualties. This changed a lot in New York with the factories, there were many regulations and new rules.
