The greatest milestone in an individual’s life is the exciting and rewarding transition from high school to college. High school and college are both educational institutions to help students prosper and gain knowledge of their studies, however there are many differences. For example, Trivium Charter School is located in Santa Maria, California and uses a hybrid model which blends homeschooling methods with classroom experience. Santa Barbara Business College (SBBCollege) also located in Santa Maria, California offers a traditional education. There are many significant differences between Santa Barbara Business College and Trivium Charter School such as the method of instruction, schedule, and tuition.
The method of instruction is an aspect that greatly differs between Trivium and SBBCollege. Trivium required students to take online courses for subjects such as Math, Language Arts, PE, and other electives for home study days. Trivium requires students to graduate and complete their high school education due to the fact that it is mandatory, while SBBCollege is optional for those who wish to obtain a degree. The method of instruction at Trivium consists of a classical foundation with the use of online learning as opposed to SBBCollege where a traditional education is offered. Additionally, restriction in course scheduling in college is unlike a blended high school since courses are arranged in advance. Clearly, the tuition for each institution differs as Trivium is free to the public while SBBCollege requires tuition to complete one’s college career. Nevertheless, a student transitioning from Trivium Charter School to SBBCollege would find many differences as one provides a high school education and the other offers a post-secondary
