President Truman’s decision to use atomic weapons on Japan was justified because it put an end to a horrific war, saved millions, and sprung the United States armed forces. The first piece of evidence supporting the claim is how the decision made by President Truman to use atomic weapons on Japan was rightfully justified because of the Japanese war mentality. This quote from Henry Stimson explains how the fighting between Japan and America was like no other, the militaries were very powerful and that meant there would be more blood, and more death, and the use of the Atomic bomb was the least horrific outcome to the war. Secondly, the use of the atomic bomb saved many lives on both sides of the war, and that is another example of why Truman’s decision is justified.
