Trusting someone can either get you killed or lead to success and to say the very least, the boys came to know that there was almost no trust on the island. Trust is very important in the Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The boys are stranded on this island in the middle of a war and Ralph is obsessed with getting off the island while Piggy is with him and his kinda voice of reason, while Jack, all he is obsessed with, is gaining power and being the leader of the island. Because of Ralph's attempts to trust some of the boys on the island, it made two of his friends' lives end and almost ended. Ralph wanted to get off the island so badly that he trusted people who probably shouldn't have. One of the broken bonds of trust was between Piggy and Ralph. Ralph ended up breaking Piggy's trust when Piggy trusted Ralph with a name bully made up for him and explicitly told him to not tell anyone. But on page 21 in the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding it shows that Ralph told everyone that his name was Piggy saying '‘He's not fat,’ cried Ralph, ‘his real names Piggy!’”(Golding 21). This quote made everyone start laughing at Piggy, causing him to be very embarrassed and really upset at Ralph. This example solidifies how there's a lot of bonds of trust being broken on the island in Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Another showing of distrust in Lord of the Flies is when Jack breaks Ralph's trust. Jack broke Ralph's trust when he grabbed the hunters he lended to watch the fire for recourse to make them hunt with him. This caused Ralph's fire to go out and coincidentally a boat was passing by as the fire went out and it caused them to not be rescued and it caused a heated argument between Jack, Ralph and Piggy which caused Jack to accidentally break Piggy's
