Here’s one thing to keep in mind: love always wins, whether it is offered or received. Love never loses. In the novel Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Mitch reconnects with his old professor Morrie after hearing that he has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Morrie doesn't have many days left to live and Mitch struggles to accept it. They go through multiple Tuesdays talking about all the big things in life, learning how to say goodbye, and creating their last thesis together. Love continues to be an extremely important thing in numerous ways whether it's shown to friends, family, or people all around us. Love never seems to disappoint.

They were embracing material things and expecting a sort of hug back. But it never works. You can’t substitute material things for love or for gentleness or for tenderness or for a sense of comradeship. This quote is Morrie talking about how people have become so drawn to material things. They are trying to fill that hole in lives where real love is supposed to be. Morrie is expressing that no amount of material things can fill that hole and that void which is why people are never satisfied with what they have. Morrie is blaming society for making people believe that these material things are love and that they can't have love without these things. With the condition Morrie is in he knows real love and how non valuable material things are and how important it is to experience real authentic love. In the chapter Taking Attendance on page 43 Mitch describes his experience at a tennis tournament where he is knocked over by a reporter while chasing famous tennis player Andre Agassi. In the chapter the audiovisual part 2 on page 71 Morrie is being interviewed for a second time by Ted Koppel. They are talking about how Morrie will feel when he loses his speech when his friend Maurie Stein was brought up. Ted asks what it will be like when his friend loses his hearing and Morrie loses his speech. Morrie states“We will hold hands,”“and there will be love passing between us. Ted, we have had thirty-five years of friendship. You don't need speech or hearing to feel that.”This statement by Morrie is showing that the love is so strong between him and his friend that not even their disabilities can stop them from continuing to love each other. Love can overcome any circumstance and in this one it does. On the thirteenth tuesday page 174 Morrie and Mitch are talking about their perfect day. This conversation slowly drifts into how you can make peace with living and how love is the only way you can do that. Morrie states“Death ends a life, not a relationship”this backs up the saying love always wins because when someone loves another and they love them with real authentic feeling and sincerity that love cannot be stopped by death.
