Charlotte Learning Academy is a free public charter school that consists of grades 6th -12th grades. With 22 teachers on staff, most of our teachers are first-year teachers who have no teaching experience. As a charter school, we must follow the federal guidelines. One important guideline is The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which focus on ensuring that federal funds are used to improve student achievement by providing staff development to its teachers and principal. This program is designed to help further educate our teacher on classroom management and teaching strategies. Teachers would build on what they have learned and utilize these new skills in their classroom to help close the achievement gap in testing scores. These classes will help teachers who are continuing for their master degree.

Alternatives:
Teachers who enroll in classes will be compensated only in work-related courses. The average amount of annual tuition reimbursement per employee will be $5,000 or less based on the grade they earned. In order to qualify for the whole reimbursement amount of $5,000 or less based upon the tuition cost, the employee must have a final grade of B or higher. Any grade C or lower will receive reimbursement of 25% of that work-related course.

Teachers who do not want to enroll in any classes can find staff development opportunities by attending conferences, training, and meetings. The school will reimburse employees for meals, mileage and hotel expenses. Employees must complete a justification form for the conference and submit it to the principal.
