In the 2017 Super Bowl, TurboTax released a commercial featuring the familiar tale of Humpty Dumpty. In this clip, Humpty is featured filling out his taxes online while sitting on a wall and suddenly falls. Everyone in the commercial is surprised to find out that when he fell he was filling out his taxes. The message of the TurboTax commercial can be see in their slogan, “anytime, anywhere,” (TurboTax Super Bowl Commercial). In this commercial TurboTax makes it clear that anybody can do their taxes whenever and wherever they would like. There were several commercials in the 2017 Super Bowl, but not all them were successful. TurboTax successfully exemplifies those three characteristics. Therefore, TurboTax is the best commercial out of all the 2017 Super Bowl commercials.
A successful commercial is one that promotes their product or brand several times throughout their commercial. Having several different types of promotions of the product throughout the commercial makes the commercial more successful because it lets the audience know several times what the company is trying to sell them. Some Super Bowl commercials like the Mercedes commercial or the Squarespace commercial wait to till the end of the commercial to tell the audience what is being advertised (Born to be Wild, John Malkovich for Squarspace). Contrasting to them, TurboTax shares their logo several times throughout the commercial. For example, in the entire TurboTax commercial the actual word “TurboTax” shows up three times and is first seen eighteen seconds into the commercial. In contrast, in the Mercedes commercial the actual word “Mercedes” only shows up once in the commercial and that is after sixty seconds into the …show more content…

When marketing to an audience, a company wants to display something that will attract the most amount of people they are trying to reach. They also want to to display something that many people can relate to. The company TurboTax is all about making the process of doing taxes by yourself easier. Being a tax company, they are already able to attract several thousands of people because there are several people who have to complete their taxes. They are also promoting an easier and quicker solution to doing taxes. This can be seen in their slogan, “anytime, anywhere.” What they are conveying to their audience is that people who do their taxes through there service can do them at anytime of the day and at any location. This is seen in their commercial when Humpty decides to do his taxes while sitting on a wall. Going off the use of Humpty Dumpty, TurboTax uses an excellent strategy of playing into our childhood memories.
