How would you feel if your English teacher makes you have to write a long essay about something that wasn’t even your fault? Such a long interesting story happens to Julian in the book, Twerp, by Mark Goldblatt. Although there has been more interesting, fictional stories, this book is more preferable because Julian has to write a long essay about what he did to his friend Danley, in winter recess, in the neighborhood of Ponzini. One reason why this book is appealing is setting. This incident happened in January 11, 1969, in the neighborhood of Ponzini, where this book occurs. Another reason this book is different is its characters, the main characters in this story is Julian, Lonnie, and Danley. Julian is the narrator of the story, and he is the one writing this whole essay about what he did in winter recess, to his friend Danley. Julian tries to adapt with his group of friends, which are terrible friends. One day, Lonnie came up with an idea to egg Danley, Julian’s job was to bring Danley to Ponzini so that Julian, Lonnie and a group of friends could egg Danley, because they didn’t like him, because he was a weird person. Julian didn’t really like this idea, but he barely did anything, all he did was bring him to Ponzini, while his friends wait until they see him, and throw eggs at him. Once Julian brought Danley to Ponzini, out of nowhere, Julian turns his face, and all he hears is Danley yelling “oh no!” “oh no!”, once Julian turns his head he already saw the first egg thrown at him, and then the next, and the next, Danley was bleeding badly in the face because it was cold outside and his skin was so delicate. Once they were done, they left him there, on the floor with blood everywhere. Danley never snitched on him or anything, but Julian would always pass by him feeling sorry for what he
