Similarly, the rise of the Green Party also supports my view to why the two-party system is no longer present today. The Party came into power by presenting outlines of “a political system that puts the public first, imagine and economy that gives everyone a fair share, a planet protected from the threat of climate change now and for the generations to come” (Bennet 2015). The outlines present were shares a left wing socialist approach. The “Greens’ success is certainly not down to their achievements in office. Their popularity in Brighton, where they control the council, is low. After four years, residents are tired of infighting, tax rises, bin strikes and, ironically, one of the country’s worst records for recycling” (Telegraph 2015)
