One can clearly see the power of God in His creating of the world, changing of the sinner's heart, and conquering of Death. 1. God created all the beautiful and extraordinary living things on the earth. 2. "The Tyger" by William Blake illustrates this truth. 3. The poem emphasizes the strength and ferocity of the tiger, asking, "What immortal hand or eye / Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?" (line 23, 24). 4. Blake likens God to a blacksmith, using hammer, chain and anvil to build a bright, burning beast. Of course, God did not need any of these tools to create the tiger. 5. One of the greatest examples of God's power is His ability to completely transform a sinner's heart. 2. He softens the unbelieving person so that she might trust and repent though faith, and then He continues to make her heart more like His every day. 3. John Donne portrayed this victorious struggle in his poem "Batter My Heart, Three-Person'd God". 4. Donne asks God to break down the barriers of his flesh so that his heart might be free to love and worship Him. 5. "Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend, / But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue." (line 7,8) says the poet. 6.
