Tyrell By Cole Booth: Character Analysis

I strongly agree books can play a significant role in our lives. Using the book “Tyrell,” by Cole Booth displays how he overcame adversity he faced by standing up for himself and staying optimistic. Tyrell was an 18-year-old boy who lived in a tough neighborhood in Brooklyn and wound up joining a fierce gang called “Bone Thugs.” As part of the gang, Tyrell was on a bad path and was at risk of not graduating high school. Tyrell wanted to turn his life around for the better and leave the Bone Thugs, but the gang would not let him out so easily Tyrell built up enough courage and strength to stand up to the furious gang leader and this resulted in a rewarding manner. Although Tyrell was extremely devastated over this, he forced himself to stay optimistic even when the circumstances were so terrible. Tyrell looked for various ways to prove that he could recover his brother and properly take prominent care of him by learning to cook, reading bedtime stories out loud, and learning the route to the kindergarten. Tyrell had a positive mindset throughout this whole obstacle and was finally granted legal guardianship over his little brother Troy. There was a time when I wanted to babysit my 2-year-old nephew and needed to convince my older brother that I was capable of taking good care of him for a few hours. My brother was very hesitant at first but I illustrated beforehand how I would make a sandwich for my nephew, wash him up, and change his pull-up. I stayed optimistic and my brother was so pleased that he felt comfortable that I was responsible enough to take care of his
