For a career I think the best career would be an underwater welder. As an underwater welder you are not always welding underwater. I chose this career because i 've been into welding my whole life and I enjoy a dangerous job. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision (“Summary”). The job is typically near or in water along the coast in ports or out in the ocean. The work shifts are from 8-12 hours and you can work up to 3 shifts per day. The job can be found world-wide. In the oceans at least (“Summary”).
The starting salary for underwater welding is about $40,380. Once you’re trained and experienced you will make about $60,000 or more a year. A similar job like it as in repair and maintenance pays around $38,260. Once you work at one company for a while you can make in the 6 digits (“Summary”).

In 2024 there are projected to be about 412,300 jobs for underwater welding. In the 8 years the number of jobs will increase by 4%. The salary does not vary by state but only by living costs (“Summary”).
The requirements for this job are not easy but very much worth the hard work. You will need a high school diploma and AG/FFA experience during high school. You will need to have a scuba-diving certificate as well as a welding certificate. You will need a certificate for underwater welding. It is recommended to have electricity and computer experience as well
