Most unions were created in the industrial era because there was a great need at the time. Workers long toiled under very unsafe conditions, earning extremely low pay and enjoying little to no legal protections. Unions have served workers by improving working conditions and helping workers avoid being exploited by employers. (Maranijan, 2014). I do believe that Unions have both a positive and a negative effect on the workforce. I am currently not a member of the Union at my job, because I fall under the category of workers as “not qualified”.
